Founded in 1931, PAA membership has increased from 1,300 in 1965 to nearly 3,000 today, reflecting the growing interest in the population field. By becoming a PAA member, you receive critical benefits that boost your career and support the population research community.
Benefits of Membership
Demographers and population research scientists who are PAA members have access to the following benefits:
PAA publications keep members informed about important issues in the scientific study of the population. Our flagship journal is Demography, a quarterly scientific journal which includes research conducted in several disciplines including the social sciences, geography, history, biology, statistics, business, epidemiology and public health. Our well-liked member newsletter is PAA Affairs which reports the activities of the Association, events of professional interest and employment opportunities. Finally, the PAA Committee on Applied Demography publishes the Applied Demography Newsletter which includes articles of interest to state, local and business demographers.
The PAA Annual Meeting provides an opportunity for the presentation of scientific papers to a peer audience. Other activities include workshops, roundtable discussions, and an exhibition of population related publications, software, products and services. PAA’s next Annual Meeting will be held April 27-29, 2017 in Chicago, IL. PAA members receive discounts on registration, exhibit space, and unique opportunities to present their work and publications.
