The National Research Center on Hispanic Children & Families and the Population Association of America (PAA) are pleased to announce a free mentoring and networking breakfast at the PAA annual meeting.

The mentoring and networking breakfast will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 7:00 a.m. ET. The event is designed to facilitate relationships between mentees (students & new professionals) and mentors (leaders in the field) studying Hispanic populations and/or racial and ethnic equity. Mentors and mentees will have the opportunity to choose among various discussion topics including those related to studying Hispanic populations, equity issues in population studies, and career development more broadly. Participants will be assigned to groups based on topical interest and will have ample opportunity to engage in informal discussions with both their peers and mentors.

Are you a student or early-career professional who would like to engage with well-established senior population research professionals? Then sign up for this event!

You'll enjoy lunch and conversation with colleagues and senior researchers. Matches will be made based on topic area, career level, and career issues to be discussed. If you're interested in being a mentor, please let us know by emailing info@popassoc.org. This event is capacity limited and is not available for registration onsite.

Participants should be students or early-career professionals. Early-career is defined as those who have earned their Masters, PhD, or similar degree within the last 5 years.

Welcome Mixer | Thursday, April 10, 6:00pm - 9:00pm
The PAA 2025 kick-off event with a spin! This year’s Welcome Mixer will take place in two exhibit halls with plenty of space to connect and network. Enjoy a variety of appetizers, desserts and drinks while catching up with friends, colleagues and exhibitors. 

The evening will feature the Awards Ceremony at 7:00 pm, followed by a round of karaoke! You'll also have the chance to meet exhibitors and learn more about their programs and services. Drink tickets provided to students who register for the Welcome Mixer. Don't miss this fantastic start to PAA 2025!

Join your fellow early-career professionals to meet new colleagues and strengthen your network. Registration for this event includes one complimentary drink ticket.

DEI Committee Reception | Saturday, April 12, 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Join fellow DEI champions for a fun, casual reception where you can meet new people and connect with colleagues. Celebrate with us as we toast the newest recipient of the PAA W. E. B. Du Bois Award in Population Science. Registration is not required, but those who register will receive a ticket for a complimentary beverage.
