Advocacy Counts 2020

Join PAA for a one-day, high impact event mobilizing you and scores of your fellow members to advocate on behalf of PAA legislative priorities. On Wednesday, April 22, advance on Capitol Hill and meet with members of Congress, and their staff, to discuss issues such as the 2020 Census, funding for the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.

We need to take this opportunity to connect PAA members in Washington, DC with their congressional representatives. Registration is free through the PAA 2020 Annual Meeting registration. Pre-registration is required and the deadline is March 13. Participants must be U.S. citizens.

Advocacy Counts 2020 takes place on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, prior to the official start of PAA 2020. We will kick off with a welcome breakfast at the meeting hotel, which will include a training and information session, and then depart for a full day of meetings on Capitol Hill. Each participant will receive a customized schedule (and a handy mobile app!) tailored to cover their congressional representatives, and participants will team up with other PAA members who come from the same state and/or congressional district. Leave the planning and logistics to us! All you need is your enthusiasm, your commitment to advancing population science… and a sturdy pair of shoes.

Following a full day of advocacy, come back to the hotel and enjoy some well-earned food and libations at the Welcome Mixer!
