The Government and Public Affairs Committee (GPAC) is invited to sponsor a session at the annual PAA meeting to highlight the organization’s interests in timely, policy relevant topics. Given President Biden’s interest in promoting enhanced opportunities for underrepresented populations, GPAC partnered with the PAA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee to sponsor a session at the 2022 annual meeting, “Implications for Population Research of Federal Efforts to Address Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.”

The session featured presentations by four senior officials from the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, and White House Office

of Science and Technology Policy. The speakers addressed major initiatives that their agencies are pursuing to improve equitable data practices and policies across Federal statistical agencies; encourage more research applications from underrepresented populations and institutions; diversity the federal workforce; and, address social determinants of health. Three of the speakers’ slides are posted below. The fourth speaker, Dr. Christina Ciocca Eller, Assistant Director of Evidence and Policy, White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, submitted a video, which can be viewed at the below link.
