According to a new report published by the National Academy of Sciences, research funded by the National Science Foundation’s Social, Behavioral and Economics directorate has made significant and ongoing contributions to NSF’s mission to advance the nation’s health, prosperity, national defense and scientific progress. The study also recommended that the SBE Directorate should undertake a strategic planning process that could ultimately guide the NSF’s research priorities in the social and behavioral sciences. The committee that conducted the study featured several distinguished PAA members, including former PAA President Robert Moffitt (Johns Hopkins U.), Kathleen Mullan Harris (UNC Chapel Hill) and Ron Lee (UC-Berkeley).
