The Population Association of American (PAA) endorses the Administration's decision not to include an untested question on citizenship status in the 2020 Census. Executive Order #13880, issued July 11, 2019, establishes a more coherent, appropriate process for compiling information on the geographic distribution of immigrants. PAA encourages the Department of Commerce to work with data users, including PAA members, to ensure the Executive Order authorizing the use of existing administrative records is implemented adhering to the highest ethical and professional statistical standards.
