Time is a critical but under-researched aspect of individual, family, and societal health and well-being. The focus of the 2023 University of Maryland (UMD) Time Use Conference will be time inequalities and how these influence daily activities, interactions, and well-being. We welcome research that addresses questions related to the collection or analysis of time use data. We will prioritize research on (a) intersectional and critical analyses of the
consequenc-es of time-related inequalities during the COVID-19 pandemic for children’s, adolescents’, and adults’ daily life, experiences, and health; (b) structural racism, time use and health across the life span; and (c) time use as a social determinant of health across the life span.
The Conference will offer in-person and virtual attendance to provide a more inclusive venue for the global and interdisciplinary time use research community to interact and share ideas.
Abstract submission is open to all individuals with an interest in how patterns of daily time use affect child, adult, and family well-being. Authors are asked to submit:
1) a brief abstract (150 words); and
2) a three to four page extended abstract that includes information about the research methods and expected findings.
The extended abstract must be sufficiently detailed to allow the organizing committee to judge the merits of the proposed paper.
