We want to make sure you are aware that PAA 2025 is scheduled for Thursday, April 10 to Sunday, April 13. This is a shift from our typical Wednesday – Saturday pattern. This is a one-time anomaly, and future meetings are scheduled to follow the typical pattern. We also recognize that these dates conflict with the beginning of Passover. We do our best to avoid all the spring religious holidays when scheduling the PAA Annual Meeting, but it was not possible in these circumstances. We recognize that this may be a burden for some members and may prevent participation in the annual meeting. For that, we are deeply sorry.
The PAA 2025 meeting was originally contracted in 2018 to be held at the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, DC. The Marriott Wardman Park temporarily closed in spring 2020 due to COVID. In late 2022, the property announced it was permanently closing. This closure meant PAA had to find an alternative location for PAA 2025. The closure was announced two and half years before PAA 2025 which is relatively short notice for a meeting our size and space requirements. PAA Annual Meeting locations are usually selected four to six years in advance.
Given the short time frame, our options were very limited. We looked at several cities and properties. Most did not have availability in our meeting timeframe. The Marriott Marquis had availability the week before but only beginning on Thursday (instead of the typical Wednesday). The Marriott Marquis and the pattern shift was selected as it was the least bad option available.
