UNFPA's new Demographic Futures Survey launch

Ahead of World Population Day and on behalf of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), we are delighted to invite you to the launch of the report on the findings of the Demographic Futures Survey 2025-2026, “Choices, Lives and Futures: What shapes young adults’ decisions about relationships, parenthood and the future".

This report captures the voices of more than 108,000 Internet-connected people aged 18 to 39 in 73 countries across all world regions. It explores their aspirations and experiences with regard to life goals, partnerships, and having children, with a focus on the barriers and enablers to achieving their reproductive choices. This expands significantly on the sample size of the 2025 State of World Population report which explored how much fertility rates reflect people's real desires, and provides flagship evidence for rights-based policies.

Timed with the start of the 2026 High Level Political Forum and ahead of World Population Day, the launch provides a vital opportunity to place evidence at the centre of global discussions on demographic change, reproductive rights and sustainable development.
