PUBLIC INFORMATION-GATHERING SESSIONBehavioral Economics: Policy Applications and Practical Guidance for State and Local Initiatives
Behavioral economics has produced invaluable evidence about the factors that influence individuals’ decision-making. It can help explain why people act in seemingly irrational ways and how they respond to interventions designed to encourage behaviors and choices that lead to improved outcomes for individuals and communities. The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine is organizing a one-day meeting in Washington, DC on March 22 in which individuals engaged in the development of behavioral interventions at the state and local levels will have the opportunity to hear presentations from experts on applying insights from Behavioral Economics: Policy Impact and Future Directions and the field of behavioral economics generally to their work, and learn from the experiences of their peers. In-person participants will also engage in small group discussions about challenges they may be currently grappling with, and participate in interactive activities designed to expand their toolkits of possible strategies for addressing the challenges. Space is limited, and registration is required to attend. Webcast registration is available for those who are unable to attend in person.Confirmed speakers include:
