The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), located at the Department of Commerce, the principal statistical agency providing accurate, objective and comprehensive data about the nation’s economy, is a vital source of data for economists and other population scientists. Recently, PAA joined the American Statistical Association and others in advocating for funding and other priorities for BEA. In a letter to House appropriators, coalition members applauded members of House Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science for their support for increased funding for BEA in FY 2021 appropriations. In a separate effort, a letter to the Biden-Harris Transition team outlines the importance of the mission of BEA and lays out suggested priorities for the agency for the next four years.
