PAA and APC are signatories to the letter to Congress and the Administration regarding the challenges to the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), and the US Census Bureau. The letter was sent on February 18 with 90 organizations and 768 individuals as signatories.
We hope the letter’s transmittal is just the beginning of our collective efforts in support of the federal economic statistical agencies.
As noted at the link above, the letter was transmitted to the leadership of the US House of Representatives and US Senate, the Joint Economic Committee, and the appropriations and authorizing committees for BEA, BLS, and Census. It has also been transmitted to the leadership of the White House Office of Management and Budget, the Department of Commerce, and the Department of Labor. It will be transmitted again to the Secretaries of Commerce and Labor once they are confirmed as well as to the chair of the Council of Economic Advisors. The letters to each of these are below.
