PAA Call for Awards Nominations

PAA 2023 AwardsRecognize a fellow demographer who has contributed to the profession. The following four awards will be presented at the 2023 PAA Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana. See each for individual nomination criteria and how to nominate. All nominations are due January 31, 2023.

The Robert J. Lapham Award biennially recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves by their sustained achievements in the following areas: contributions to population research, applications of demographic knowledge to improve the human condition, and service to the population profession. 
The biennial Harriet B. Presser Award honors a record of sustained research contributions to the study of gender and demography.


The Irene B. Taeuber Award is presented every other year in recognition of an unusually original or important contribution to the scientific study of population or for an accumulated record of exceptionally sound and innovative research.

The Dorothy S. Thomas Award is presented annually for the best graduate student paper on the interrelationships among social, economic and demographic variables.
